What is the latest TeeChart Editor Help?

I have just installed TeeChart 2013 for RAD XE3 (v2013.09).

The TeeChart Editor Help file that is supplied with this version is:

TEEUSER9.HLP, dated 2007 (over 6 years old)

Not only have HLP files been deprecated on Windows systems for some time, but the 2007 contents of this HLP file look out of date compared with the actual TeeChart Editor.

Is there not a more up-to-date help file to use with TeeChart Pro? The current file lets the product down, badly, IMHO.

As you say, this help format has become redundant on later Windows installations and as such we decided that on-development of content would not be profitable for editor users. The helpfile is still included for purposes of backwards compatibility, intended via the source rtf document, to provide a platform whereupon developers can add some meaningful information of their own for their own application users and compile the helpfile if required. The project files provide all the means necessary to run the compilation.

We have had no plans to further develop the helpfile but will respond to customer demand if it is felt that the help format remains current to developer requirement.

Thank you for the explanation. Since you are no longer providing an up to date help file (in appropriate format, e.g. chm not hlp), then I suggest the Help button should be hidden by default from the runtime editor. Is there a way to disable/hide that button, rather than leave it pointing to an out-of-date help file?

Hello Andrew,

There's no built-in functionality to do that. It's only available to source code customers modifying editor's sources, I'm afraid. I have also added your request to the wish-list (ID570) to be considered for inclusion in future releases.

Thanks for adding this to the wish list.

I think this should be a priority item, since the product as you ship it displays a Help file that is woefully out-of-date and detracts from it in the eyes of end-users.

As a developer, not being able to do anything about that - without modifying the source code or rewriting the help file entirely - is not acceptable.
