Dax Error when going from 6 to 7 this time!

Post by Seth » Thu Nov 24, 2005 1:53 am

Hello,
this "Dax Error" matter keeps coming back to us.

This time, the dax error occurs when upgrading from v6 to v7!

You can try for yourself by running these 2 pages.

The testing method is the same as before. You have to clean your computer first, then install v6 and v7.

Please take some time to investigate this problem. Thanks.

I just found the fact that the newest v7 version is 7.0.0.6 where only the version 7.0.0.5 is available from the Client Access. How could I get this version?

Good Day!

I really don't like to hurry things but my client keeps asking me on this matter.

He emphasized that the opening day of his project is close.

He told me that he really would like to be informed what we are doing at least.

So, it would be great if you can tell me on the current situation over there.

I hope that you understand my situation.

Thanks.

ps. I found one more fact. You get "Dax Error", if you load a v7 window after close the v6. But, if you load the v7 window while the v6 window opened, v7 activeX control was loaded successfully.

Hi there.

You have to give me some feedback.

Were you able to reproduce the problem?

Are you looking into the problem?

I just have nothing to say but my client is going crazy. So, please give me some feedback.

Thanks!

Hello,

We haven't yet been able to reproduce the DAX error following the steps described and the test pages linked in your post.
Tests run on
- IE v6.0.2800.1106 on Win2000 (English lang)
- IE v6.0.3790.1830 on Win2300 (English lang)

Please could you confirm browser operating system versions and let us know if the problem occurs on one configuration or across different platforms.

Re. versions
v7.0.0.6 is being finalised for release and should be available within a week from now. (see http://www.steema.com/support/versions.html for version info).

Hello Marc,

first, please take a look at this post.
http://www.teechart.net/support/viewtopic.php?t=2943

This post was also about the dax error when upgrading from v5 to v6.

Notice that this is the same case but only upgrading from v6 to v7 this time.

I have tested on
- Win 200 (KOREAN and ENGLISH)
- Win XP (KOREAN).

And, I was able to reproduce the problem!

I guess the common mistake would be not deleting the ocx file in system32 or opening the v7 window while the v6 window is opened. You need to close the v6 window before you open v7!

I really hope that you can reproduce the problem.

Thanks.

Hello,

We're still not able to reproduce the problem on the english windows test machines here. For tests we have thoroughly cleaned-off installed teechart versions as you have described and closed the v6 test page before running the v7 page. Are you checking that the registry settings for TeeChart are clear after removing the installed ocx files?

eg. regsvr32 /u "c:\WINDOWS\system32\teechart6ocx"

Please could you check that you are running the latest versions of Internet Explorer and that recent Windows service packs are applied. A DAX error usually relates to some interaction with the environment. Does the DAX error occur without running any of the code via buttons on the test pages?
