getting a Y value given the X value of a series on a chart

is it possible to query the chart to get the Y value of a series given the X value? the X value may not be a value that was added as a point on the chart, eg. i add values at x=1 and x=2, but want to find the Y value for x=1.5.

thanks for the referral to the Interpolation Example. was thinking i'd have to resort to something like that.
copied the example and am working to incorporate this into Borland Builder 6.0. so far, so good.
