Run Time Editors vs Chart Problems.

I am still trying to use the Run Time Chart Editor(s) to effect the chart design and I am still having problems. The behaviour is inconsistent with what is expected, and in some cases deviates from the example processing (as seen in the What's new demo). The area of most problems has to do with the manipulation of a Chart Series. These problems can vary from not displaying correctly, aborting, or doing nothing at all. Most problems occur when a series uses a function. I have searched the forum, and either I am unique in what I am doing, or I am the only person having problems. From some of the forum questions, I suspect that I am tying to do something unique and this processing has not really been heavily used.

My question is this: Are you making any major changes in this area (run time editing) in the version 8 release? If you are, then it might be worth my time to wait until the new version comes out and then try the new implementation. That way, any problems that I find could be more readily fixed. If you are not addressing these issues in version 8, then I have two choices: report the problems and wait for a fix (most likely on version 8 ), or to replicate your processing to fit my needs. Neither of these two options are desirable, so I am hoping you have addressed this processing in the upcoming release.

Please advise me regarding this subject. Due to the number of problems and inconsistent processing issues that I have encountered using the Run Time editing, I have postponed the implementation of TChart into my product until I hear from you.

Thanks in advance for your time and concern regarding this matter.

Yes, as you think, this component is not one of the most used, or maybe most of the customers are using it setting the Tree mode to false.
My question is this: Are you making any major changes in this area (run time editing) in the version 8 release? If you are, then it might be worth
Yes, we try to fix the maximum problems every release, in all the areas of TeeChart, we'll do all the efforts in order to solve all the problems related with the TChartEditorPanel component.
To help on this matter would you be so kind to post all the problems you have encountered with this one ? (with steps to reproduce them). For the moment (using the latest v7.08 sources) one I've noticed has been :
- Adding new function and then going to the "Format" tab the options are not displayed.

Thanks for the encouragement, it is most reassuring. I really need this interface to work smoothly as there is no run time help available for it.

I have one that is currently a "show stopper", and the others are just a bother. I will work up a test case for this and post it. I have currently moved to something else, but I will be picking this up again next week. As I encounter the problems, I will document them to you.

Hi RGSMike,

Thanks for the example project and instructions on how to reproduce the issues. I've been able to reproduce them here and have been added at our defect list (TV52011998) to be fixed for the next releases.
