Hi,

I have been working quite a lot with TeeChart components recently and every now and then I will start RAD Studio 2010 and I will get a message "Class TAreaSeries not found". When my form is displayed, I can no longer edit my tee chart component and the only way I have found to solve this is to reinstall TeeChart 2011 components (after which I restart RAD Studio and everything works). Is this a known bug in RAD Studio, or is it something to do with TeeChart components?

It sounds like if you had some kind of problem in the previous installation that has been corrected with the new installation. I guess the error was prompted when opening a project, not when opening the IDE without any project, isn't it? There probably was a wrong entry in the IDE library/search path that was confusing it.
I'd suggest you to check the IDE's library and search paths, and the packages list as well. Check that there isn't any old installation remaining path and check that the TeeChart paths are on the top of the lists. Please, check all it without any project opened.

All looks fine in my installation. I have only had TeeChart 2010 and 2011 on my systems and the last 5+ installs have been for 2011. I cannot find any paths pointing to the 2010 version.

I thought maybe this was a known issue; if not I can live with reinstalling every now and then (even though it should not be necessary).

Hello Steve,

There are basically two known possibilities.
- If it only happens when loading a project, the wrong reference may be in the project files. The solution here is to edit manually the project files and correct the wrong references.
- If it happens when starting the IDE without opening a project, the problem should be in the IDE library/search paths or in the IDE packages list.

I get this when trying to open the form in which I have TChart components. I checked the project file as you suggested and there was indeed one entry in the excluded packages section pointing to my old TeeChart 2010 installation. I changed this to point to the 2011 installation, but it made no difference. Other than that, I don't know what else it could be as all the paths seem fine. I consider this a bug in the IDE though, rather than the TeeChart components, so for the purposes of this forum the issue is closed.
