Hi,

I have T-Chart version 5 and ever since we upgraded to IE 7 and IE 8 the chart editor would pop up underneath the main chart page. Instead of ontop of the main chart page. I already talked to Microsoft and they said that it is a bug within your software. Something in the t-chart is making the chart editor pop up ontop of the page (correctly) in IE 6 and underneath the page (incorrectly) in IE 7 and IE 8.
Is there a fix for this bug?

Hi Landa,

You should try using TeeChart Pro v8 ActiveX. You can download a fully functional evaluation version here:

Please notice that when v5 was released nor IE7 neither IE8 existed so it doesn't fully support those browsers.

I have purchased version 8 of the tee-chart but haven't upgraded yet because customers are depending upon the functionality of the tee-chart in some reports. But now it seems like I really do need to upgrade. Can you take me through the process? Is there a phone number that I can call or can you take a look at a few of my reports and let me know what I need to do to upgrade from version 5 to version 8 of the tee-chart?

TeeChart Pro v8 ActiveX comes with a set of tools and instructions to upgrade previous versions applications. You'll find Upgrading from TeeChart v7.PDF document at TeeChart's program group and the other tools at C:\Program Files\Steema Software\TeeChart Pro v8 ActiveX Control\Utilities.

I finally got the teechart8 to download. But the chart editor on the top of the chart doesn't show up. Instead it looks like there's another chart hidden behind the one in the foreground.
I would like to send you a screenshot if that would help... along with my code. I really need the chart editor to show up.

Hi Landa,

Are you using correct GUID for the commander? You'll find previous versions and current version GUIDS at AllGuids.txt in C:\Program Files\Steema Software\TeeChart Pro v8 ActiveX Control\Utilities.

I'm sorry, I'm really new to this teechart stuff.
Do I use the classids that are shown in the examples or am I supposed to find it in the GUID.text? If so how do I know which ones to use. I see so many of them in that file...

Hi Landa,

At guids.txt you'll find v7 guids together with their v8 equivalents. While at AllGuids.txt you'll find v8 guids with previous versions guids and the object name they belong too. So you should look at the guid in the example you used and replace it by v8's equivalent. At AllGuids.txt you can see guid for TeeCommander in v8 is DCAB77D9-709F-4BB0-92B9-5CFE7A5170EB.

I found the right guid for the tchart and the teecomander. But there's also a <PARAM NAME=\"Base64\" VALUE= a long code of letters and numbers. Do I need to replace this? OR what is this for?

Hi Landa,

No, it's not necessary to replace Base64. It's automatically generated when adding the component from an IDE.
