dashed line not dashed

is there any way to make dashed lines more apparent ?
On my chart i changed the pen style to dsdash but the line still looks solid. if i zoom in I find that the line is actually dashed but ths spacing between the dashes is quite tiny
any ideas/suggestions appreciated
