DAXerror when installing the TeeChart 6 activeX control

Hello,
the following is suspected to be a collision problem between a TeeChart 5 control and a TeeChart6 control.

I attached the description of testing method so you can run it by yourself.
I am a version 6 user.
If the problem is known to be an error, I really would like to get a fix for this since I have our customers who keep complaining on this matter.

1. Sample Files

[ TeeChart5cab.htm ]
- An example html page using TeeChart5.cab (5,0,5,0)

[ TeeChart6cab.htm ]
- An example html page using TeeChart6.cab (6,0,0,6)

: The above two sample html pages are provided by Steema.

2. Testing Method
: Delete all TeeChart controls and delete all TeeChart.ocx files under "system32".

(1) Run TeeChart5cab.htm.
- Click on yes when an authentication window pops up and continue with the installation of activeX control.
- Now a TeeChart Pro Activex control v5 is created under WINNT\Downdloaded Programs Files.

(2) Run TeeChart6cab.htm.
- It would be installed and run successfully on the first try.
- Now a TeeChart Pro Activex control v6 is also created under WINNT\Downdloaded Programs Files.
- If you re-run the TeeChart6cab.htm page, the error message would pop up and the page would be loaded incorrectly.
(* Refer to DAX error.jpg)
- Still, the TeeChart5cab.htm page runs correctly.
- The TeeChart Pro Activex control v6 is still under WINNT\Downdloaded Programs Files.

The testing OS was Windows 2000.
Like I mentioned earlier on this post, we get this request a lot from customers. So, please have a look into this.

You can download the sample files from here.

Many thanks.

Hi Seth,

I've tested what you reported and worked fine here. You should try it using v5.0.6.0 and v6.0.0.6.

Hi there.
I found it little weird that you couldn't reproduce the problem.
I have tested with another computer and it came out the same.

1. Did you delete all files from "Downloaded Program Files" and "system32" before you test it?

2. Did you test it on Windows 2000?

3. Did you open teechart5cab.html first, then teechart6cab.html?

4. After you load teechart6cab.html, did you close the window and open the teechart6cab.html again?

The reason of asking this again is that it's not only us who have this problem. There are many who keep telling us about this. And, we also managed to produce the same problem when we were testing internally.

Hi Seth,

It has taken us some time but we have been doing a lot of testing and it seems we have solved it using the .ocx version I have sent you. Before using it you should make sure you have unregistered old .ocx files and you have registered the new one.

Wow, it works great! Thanks~!

Now, can I expect to get a new CAB? Or, should we just distribute it with an existing cab by exchanging only the ocx file within?

Hi~
the cab file you've sent me worked well on most computers,
but some computers (windows 2000 and winXP)
still shows the same problem.
Is there anything specific that I need to do
to solve this problem?
Many thanks~
