No zooming for custom axes?

After some searching it seems that zooming doesn't work for custom axes, indeed I saw a post in a VCL area indicating this to be the case.
I have a chart on a web page with a horizontal date-time axis and several series, each with its own custom vertical axis. My GUI ensures that only one vertical axis is visible at a time.
When I zoom with the mouse, only the horizontal date-time axis changes. It seems such an obvious (and frequently-required) thing that the vertical axis should change too that I'm sure I must be missing something. Am I?
