Ok here is the environment

Windows 7 32 bit ultimate running on a Virtual machine (windows 7 host)
Running installer as admin
UAC turned off
NO AV installed
Firewall off

The installation program hangs on the final stage 'Updating System Configuration' please wait
Also RegSvr32 failes. (each time it is run it returns immedtiately but you can see regsvr32 listed each time in task manager)

I have tons of other OCX files that register OK.

What is probably happening is the code in TeeChart5.OCX that is called from within DLLRegister is doing somthing that prevent the installtion completing.

TeeChart5VBCtl.OCX registers OK so what are the differences? If you can get your developers to look inside DLLRegister to see what the differences are maybe this will enable you to solve this problem.

I suspect running on a VM or over Remote desktop 'might' be part of the problem.

I have searched your forum and many people have this issue in one form or another.

Could you please, tell us if others .ocx work fine in your virtual machine? Moreover, can you say, if TeeChart5.OCX works correctly in your host machine?

Your TeeChart5.OCX is the only OCX out of many others that do not work in the Virtual Machine environment.

(Your TeeChart5VBCtl.ocx file registers OK by the way),

TeeChart5.ocx installs (or manually registers) fine on the host and works perfectly. I have installed the runtime and development TeeCHart5.ocx many times and never have had a problem from XP, Vista and Windows 7. It installs OK on an XP Pro SP3 Virtual machine but not on my Windows 7 Ultimate Virtual machine.

Please search your own forum and you will find that other people have the same problem either attempting to install with the installer or manually regsitering with regsvr32.

It is important for me and I am sure many others that we can install on Virtual machines as this enables us to create test environments for our customers.

Sorry for the delay. I couldn't reproduce your problem doing different tests with virtual machine VirtualBox and next products:

• Virtual Machine: VirtualBox 3.012 r54655 win.x86.
  OS Product: Windows 7 Ultimate
  OS Release: 6.1.7600
  ActiveX version: Activex5 release 5.0.6.0

Also, I have disabled your recommendations :

• Running installer as admin
  UAC turned off
  NO AV installed
  Firewall off

Can you please, tell me if I am missing something? If so please specify what thing, because we can try to reproduce the problem here.

I found this post and it describes a problem that I have too.

We had an old teechart4-license and used it in our VB6-software to show some pie-charts. It always worked without problems with over 100 customers on different windows-versions. A few month ago we had the first problem with our programm "hanging" on all forms with the pie-chart, but only one customer had this problem and we couldn't reproduce it.
Later while testing a new version of our software on a windows 7 64-bit ultimate virtuell Maschine (VMWare) we encountered the same problem described in this thread. Our setup "hang" at the point where it tried to register the teechart.ocx with regsvr32.
I tried regsvr32 manually, but got no response. The system showed the busy cursor for a while, but nothing else, no failure notice but no success message either. The registration doesn't seem to have worked, because the forms still don't show.
I got the teechart8-evaluation version and tried that, but had the same problem. Then we decided buying the new version teechart2010, but that also didn't work.

Now I hope, you will be able to help us find the problem and fix it. Perhaps the problem lies in windows 7 ultimate-specials or in combination with VMWare?

it's me again. My admin told me it were a 64-bit virtual machine, but after checking the system information myself I saw it's only 32-bit.
So I thought, I should better correct my post, so that you don't search in the wrong direction.
And another thing I forgot to mention earlier: I have got a virtual machine with Windows 7 RC1, on which everything works fine and we have got some customers with windows 7 both 32- and 64-bit which don't have any problems either.

That's why I don't have any idea where to look for the problem. I hope, you will have one.

I dont know anything about virtual box. I was using Microsoft virtual PC as the virtualisation solution.

There is definately a problem, I could try and send a VM but it is around 7 GB. I think I will give up with the OCX and rewrite it in .NET (and put up with the poor performance) as I dont think you guys believe me and others that there is a problem with your installer.

I have licences for activeX5, activex7, NET2 and NET3 versions of your project. How much to upgrade to your latets 2010 .NET version? The Direct 2D looks interesting. If it is stable.....

How I informed in this thread, we didn't reproduce your problem here, with our specifications, TeeChart5.ocx works correctly for us. On the other hand, I have found this post, where client have a similar problem as your and explain that if renamed the file TeeChart5.ocx to TeeChart5.dll solve it and TeeChart5.ocx is installed correctly.
